Writing Your Journal Article in 12 Weeks Writing Club

A guide for students participating in the CSU writing club using the text Writing Your Journal Article in 12 Weeks by Wendy Laura Belcher.

Week 9: Giving, Getting, & Using Feedback

  1. Who would be willing and able to give you feedback about your article draft?
  2. What specific things would you direct your reviewer to consider or give feedback about?
  • Share your article with someone else for feedback. If appropriate, provide feedback to your reviewer as well.
  • Make a list of remaining tasks.
  • Revise your article according to the feedback you received.

Ways to Accept Feedback

  1. Tell your reviewer what feedback you need.
  2. Avoid taking poorly delivered feedback with anger. Focus on the message, not the delivery.
  3. Listen without interrupting.
  4. Recognize that any reaction to your work is an indicator of how future readers may react.
  5. Remember that you are the final authority on your own article.
