Culture and Etiquette

Members of the same-sex are allowed and encouraged to greet each other. It's rude for an unfamiliar man and woman to shake hands.

Visiting friends, family, or colleagues is a semi-formal affair. Gifts are expected. The host provides coffee, followed by food, then ends the meeting with coffee or tea.

Saudi Arabia officially acknowledges Islam as the only practiced religion. Fridays are the typical day of worship, while prayer is practiced multiple times a day.

Pork and alcohol aren't eaten by practicing Muslims. It's important to check food for alcohol products or pork by-products.
