ENG 698: Pre-Thesis Colloquium

A guide for students preparing to write a thesis in literature.

Library Materials

Thesis Requirements

A minimum of 6 credits of ENG 699 or 3 credits in ENG 698 and 3 credits in ENG 699 are required for graduation. These credits are earned by working on a Master's Thesis of 30-50 pages, under the supervision of 3 committee members comprised of English graduate faculty.

Graduate students should meet with their thesis advisor at regular intervals to determine a specific thesis topic. Topics can be based on previous work done in a class or on an area of interest for the student. Students should select an advisor who has a background in this area of research. This advisor will also be first reader for the thesis.

Once a topic and an advisor are chosen, students can use this guide to help them perform research.
