A General Guide: Education: Evaluating Sources

This Research Guide contains resources supporting students, faculty, and staff in the Departments of Curriculum & Foundations and Teacher Education.

Evaluating Sources

Anyone can publish anything on the Internet. Just because you read it on Wikipedia does not mean it is true. Be careful when selecting sources, especially websites. Always EVALUATE your sources!

Apply the CRAAP Test (developed by the Meriam Library at California State University, Chico) to evaluate your sources.

The CRAAP Test Criteria are:

  • Currency
  • Relevance
  • Authority
  • Accuracy
  • Purpose
