HED 354: Methods and Materials for Health Education: Cleveland Public Schools Horticulture Program

These resources are designed to introduce students to materials needed to implement comprehensive school health education at appropriate grade levels.

CPSHP in action

More than 1,000 photos have been added to the Cleveland Memory Project about the Cleveland Public School Horticulture Program. The school horticulture program began in 1907 and remnants of the original program are still going today.

You can view a 1948 report on Gardens in the Cleveland Public Schools or the Syllabus and guidelines for tutoring fourth grade students involved in Garden Science classes at Benjamin Franklin School, 1997-2000.

Or, your heart can be touched by the 1970s documentary film intitled Who Grows the Most?
