Clipchamp is offered by Microsoft. It is free, works on most computers and mobile devices, includes a rich feature set, and is relatively easy to get started using. You can even use a Google account to avoid another sign up.
IMPORTANT: The free version of Clipchamp is not fully cloud enabled. Project files are saved on the device you are working on. It is best to work on one single device and backup your files for long-term preservation of the project.
The now familiar Zoom app can be used to record yourself, your screen, or both! If you do a screen recording in Zoom and want to do any editing, liking cutting out certain parts of the video or add any text or other images and video, you will need to import it into another video editing software.
In most cases, a video created in any software must be exported to a file format that can be uploaded to a host and viewed by others. Common file formats accepted by hosts include .mov, .mp4, and .avi. You can upload a video to personal cloud storage or email a video file directly, but this will not provide the typical video viewing experience a host like YouTube does. CSU pays for a video hosting service called Panopto that you should be able to access through your Blackboard courses.
