The Michael Schwartz Library will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2025, in observance of Labor Day
We will reopen with normal hours on Tuesday, September 2.

Labor Day is a welcome break at the start of the school year and marks the unofficial end of summer.  But its purpose is to recognize everyone’s role in society: created to honor the social and economic achievements of American workers, this is an unprecedented holiday dedicated to those whose labor built and sustains this nation. Marking the importance of labor in the history and growth of the country, Labor Day grew out of the labor movement, which fought for fair working conditions and rights for workers. Today, the holiday is observed with parades, public gatherings, and efforts to unify workers and celebrate their achievements.

While our physical space will be closed, you can still explore a wide range of library resources online to learn more about the history and meaning of this important national holiday.
