OhioLINK Luminaries program

CSU’s Michael Schwartz Library has been selected to participate in the OhioLINK Luminaries Program for the second year running. This program gives one CSU student the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge in the field of librarianship, information studies, and data sciences through a paid residency position at the library. The student works closely with a mentor, and gains valuable career skills, networking opportunities, and the ability to work on creative projects that will enrich students' experiences at the Michael Schwartz Library. Our Luminaries student for the 2022-2023 school year is Campbell Pratt.

Campbell has been working on two projects over the last six weeks. The first was to create an email "challenge" campaign to raise awareness about sustainability for Campus Sustainability Month and to draw attention to the library's relevant collections. About 20 people signed up to receive daily emails for the one week challenge, and the resulting research guide that Campbell created, which can be found here: https://researchguides.csuohio.edu/sustainabilitychallenge2022, will remain available for the use of our students, staff, and faculty far beyond Campbell's time with us.

OhioLINK LuminariesCampbell's second project was to organize a film showing to celebrate LGBTQ+ History month. The library partnered with LGBTQ+ Services and Residence Life to market the event across campus, choosing the film Stonewall Uprising.  The audience for the event was small, but the discussion afterwards, led by Campbell, was very lively!

Stay tuned for additional projects that Campbell will assist with as the school year progresses.
