MSL welcomes OhioLINK Luminaries Resident for the 2021-22 school year

CSU’s Michael Schwartz Library is excited to announce its participation in the OhioLINK Luminaries Program for the 2021-2022 school year.

This program gives one CSU student the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge in the field of librarianship, information studies, and data sciences through a paid residency position at the library. The student will work closely with a mentor, gain valuable career skills, networking opportunities, and the ability to work on creative projects that will enrich students experiences at the Michael Schwartz Library.

The OhioLINK Luminaries Program was established in 2017, though this is MSL’s first year participating in the program. Luminaries is part of a broader initiative by OhioLINK to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within Ohio’s libraries. The effort aims to both expose diverse students to careers in the information studies profession and help participating libraries create a work environment more reflective of the communities they serve.

This year’s OhioLINK Luminaries student is Thyra Chaney, a fourth year Film and Media Arts major with minors in Classical Studies and International Film. Ms. Chaney will be developing programming as well as working on an array of projects within instruction, collections, data management, and e-resources that explore representation of diverse groups among materials at the Michael Schwartz Library.

The Michael Schwartz Library wishes Ms. Chaney the best of luck in her experience with the OhioLINK Luminaries Program and is looking forward to sharing her work with the CSU community later in the year!OhioLINK Luminaries program logo
