It’s Fair Use Week, and we’re celebrating all the ways fair use makes our lives easier and more interesting.
Fair use is an important right that provides balance to the copyright system while supporting the constitutional purpose of copyright to “promote the Progress of Science and the useful Arts.” Fair use and fair dealing also refer to the limitations and exceptions to copyright which permit the use of copyrighted materials without permission from the copyright holder under certain circumstances, as long as our use meets certain conditions.
If you’re a student at CSU, you may be wondering how that affects you. Take a moment to look over the infographics below - you might be surprised to discover how often you take advantage of fair use.
It's a big subject, and as usual, we're here to help you sort it out and stay out of trouble!
