‌"Outer space, long the province of peaceful competition and international cooperation, is being rapidly militarized. We stand today at a rare inflection point in history that deserves careful thought as humanity moves forward. In short, we face the following choice: we can either protect and build on the special nature of space norms and customs to preserve space as a “laboratory of peace,” or we can militarize space as the new “highest ground” under largely the same rules that govern terrestrial warfare."

- from The Artemis Theory of Warfare, by Mark Sundahl

Join us for the Friends of the Michael Schwartz Library’s event “Connect with CSU Faculty,” featuring Professor Mark Sundahl, College of Law, for his presentation titled “The Artemis Theory of Warfare or How to Maintain Peace in Outer Space.” This hybrid event will be held from Noon – 1:00 pm in the Michael Schwartz Library, Rhodes Tower, room 502 and live streamed via Zoom. Refreshments will be served.

Professor Sundahl provides a glimpse into the multidimensional nature of the law of outer space and explains how the sixty-year-old United National system of laws is being stretched to its limits by Russia, China, and the United States.

‌Register and join us today at noon!

“Connect with CSU Faculty” is a pilot project initiated by the Friends of the Library to recognize the research of Cleveland State University faculty. The Friends selected Professor Mark J.
