ABOUT COURSE RESERVES

The Library's Course Reserve (ECR) system makes course readings and other materials available to CSU students and faculty at all hours and anywhere there is Internet access.

Users may search for the reserved items by course number, by the professor's name, or by course name. When connecting from off campus, students and faculty will need to log in with their CampusNet ID and password

Faculty may also submit course reserve materials for inclusion in ECR online, and the materials are prepared in several different ways. Files already in electronic format are easily put into the system. Printed documents are scanned and processed into accessible and ADA-compliant PDF documents and uploaded. Links to textbooks, supplemental readings, and other media materials reserved by faculty for classes are integrated into ECR as well.

The Michael Schwartz Library has collaborated with the campus bookstore, enabling us to identify library holdings assigned as course materials each semester — print, e-books and other digital content. Students access these library e-book holdings thousands of times each semester at no cost.

Course reserves are a vital component of the Library's affordable learning initiatives. By digitizing and linking up thousands of course materials each semester, we provide 24/7 access to course readings and required e-books via our Course Reserve (ECR) system.

Please note: In order to comply with Fair Use Guidelines, access to course material is password-protected for use only by those students currently enrolled in each class.  Consult the Copyrightable Materials section of this site for more information.
