Paper books on the history of Cleveland and Northeast Ohio are located on the 2nd floor of the Library under the Call Number F499. C657, and in the Special Collections Department on the 3rd floor of the Library.

The Encyclopedia of Cleveland History is accessible online. It is a good place to get background information on a topic. See the entry on African Americans.
