In Chicago and Turabian citation styles, there are two basic documentation systems: notes-bibliography style (or simply bibliography style) and author-date style (sometimes called reference list style). The author/date style tends to be used by scholars in the fields of physical, natural, and social sciences while the notes & bibliography style is preferred by many in the humanities, including those in literature, history, and the arts. Be sure to ask your professor which style he or she would prefer that you cite in before you begin.
The Chicago style and Turabian style are very similar. However, there are a few slight differences between the two styles, so be aware of which style your professor has asked you to cite in.
