Designed to help teachers, counselors, nurses and administrators find resources for coordinated school health programs (CSHP).

Farm to School Program

Ohio Coordinated School Health Program

ODE and the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) collaborate on the Coordinated School Health Program (CSHP) initiative with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The major focus of CSHP is to help schools and communities integrate best practice wellness strategies into current initiatives in eight related areas: health education, physical education, health services, nutrition services, counseling and psychological services, healthy school environment, healthy promotion for staff, and family/community involvement.

Ohio Food Programs, guidelines, curriculum

Adolescent and School Health (CDC funds for Ohio programs)

The Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Health receive funding from CDC’s Division of Adolescent and School Health to

  • Conduct the Youth Risk Behavior Survey.
  • Implement effective policies, programs, and practices to avoid, prevent, and reduce sexual risk behaviors among students that contribute to HIV infection, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), and pregnancy.
  • Promote coordinated school health policies, programs, and practices with an emphasis on physical activity, nutrition, and tobacco use prevention.
