Cleveland is divided up into wards. which makes identifying demographic and other data slightly more difficult. You have likely already been provided the ward data from The Center for Community Solutions.

NEOCANDO, a data platform from Case Western Reserve University, provides deeper access to demographic data at both the ward and neighborhood level.

If you want to engage in mapping, then you can use the U.S Census. Note that when using the Census, you will need to approximate neighborhood boundaries with blocks or block groups, the Census geography unit used to collate demographic data at this granular level.

If you care to, read more about destination and place branding in the following article:

Hanna, S., Rowley, J., & Keegan, B. (2021). Place and destination branding: A review and conceptual mapping of the domain. European Management Review, 18(2), 105–117. https://doi.org/10.1111/emre.12433

If you are able to, the best way to get to know a place is by going there, driving or walking around, and talking with residents to learn more about what makes the place special.

What if you can't go there, or want to use digital tools to help?

You could use Google Maps Street View to get a sense of what place looks like and to virtually tour it.

Looking at user generated photographs is a good way to see what residents and visitors to an area want to highlight.

You could also use Google Maps or Yelp to find popular establishments like restaurants, stores, and parks that add to a place's personality and culture.
