ASC 101 Common Reading Research Guide 2013-2014: Life of Pi: Multi-Media

Other Media as a Source

Documentaries, newscasts, podcasts, spoken word recordings, and other media can be rich sources of information. 

Always check with your professor when in doubt about the types of sources you may use.

Off-Campus Access

When you want to use the research databases or electronic book collections from an off-campus location, you will be asked to: 

  1. Enter your name
  2. Enter your CSU student number
  3. Enter your Library PIN

Find Videos and Multi-Media with WorldCat@CSU

There are many ways to search for videos and other non-print sources using WorldCat@CSU. Here is one way.

  1. Enter your keywords into the search box
  2. To the left of the result list under "Format" click "Show More" to see all format options.
  3. Check any format types you wish to locate and uncheck any you wish to eliminate from your result list.
  4. Items availabe at CSU Library will be at the top of the result list.

Find Videos and Multi-Media with Scholar Catalog

SCHOLAR is the Michael Schwartz Library's online catalog.

Scholar online catalog is not just for locating books.  A library catalog is a descriptive list of ALL items that are owned by a particular library. Library catalogs are electronic information databases accessed by computer and called "online catalogs."

SCHOLAR is accessible from every Library web page. Just look for the label "Catalog."

Using the Advanced Scholar Search is the quickest way to locate video, music, audio recordings, or other specific formats 

  1. Enter terms into the search boxes and then search by keyword (any field), title, author or subject.
  2. Use the drop down menu by Material Type to select the format (i.e. film/video, music record, e-book) you desire.
  3. Select "Search" to generate your result list.
  4. You may also use OhioLINK's Advanced Search to locate materials in a variety of formats.
